Welcome to my corner of the world.
Call your grandma. She’s worried about you.
Four years of pain, broken relationships, sickness, desperation, hopelessness and despair. Alcohol almost took everything from me, and I never want to return to that place.
You see the wildflowers growing below you, and you wonder, “why aren’t there any flowers up here?” Because the most beautiful flowers don’t grow on mountaintops. They grow in valleys.
Superman isn’t going to magically appear and whisk you off your feet just in time to save you before you are engulfed by the flames of reality. Get up and save yourself.
The next time you think this is “just a game” remember that it changes people’s lives and brings joy, community, family and resilience to its supporters.
We are the people who have been through life’s heaviest storms...but we still come out alive.
Though I will be covered in mud, cut my knees on sharp rocks and lose my footing more than once, I will continue to climb. I will eventually reach the top and overcome what I have let paralyze me for so long.
